"When making jewelry, I'm guided by intuition and a desire to communicate beauty in design, texture, form and color. I make jewelry with my heart, not my head. It can be an unpredictable process! Many of my pieces reflect a very sculptural quality. I like evidence of the fabrication process to show in the final piece, to give it that 'hand wrought' feeling."

Gail Golden's jewelry is uniquely sculptural; it has a substantial and tactile quality, with fluid lines and a spontaneous placement of elements. Each piece is hand crafted in Gail's studio and maintains a one-of-a-kind quality. Many of the tools she uses were made by her husband, award-winning jeweler and master metalsmith David Anderson.

Some of Gail's earliest memories are of drawing and painting. She received her BFA from the University of Montana in 1986 and was an illlustrator and graphic designer before she moved into jewelry design. She started making jewelry in 2001 and won her first award, Best of Jewelry, in 2002 at the Fall Art Festival's Taos Open. In 2007 she was awarded Best of Jewelry at the juried Taos Invites Taos. She is represented by many fine galleries, and her work appears in select retail catalogs.

Gail lives in Taos with her husband and happy dogs. In her non-studio time, she enjoys bicycling and skiing, among other creative and outdoor pursuits. She often draws her inspiration from Taos' awe-inspiring environment and the culturally rich artistic heritage of the region.
